What do you prefer for physical activity?

I thought I would pose a question this time - to get some conversation going. My question is to extract information from you regarding what type of physical activity you would engage in. I’m not saying that you have to be actively working out - however, I’m hoping your response will trigger some form of action. We just recently began Step-A-Fonics (Joyce McGown’s signature product) class at Lafayette Medical Center. We’re learning dance steps (line dancing), so for me, it’s a mind game to say “you’re not exercising, you’re learning how to dance!” So far, so good!

I’m interested in the Step-A-Fonics. When is it? I used to do line dancing as a form of exercise but had to stop do to a schedule conflict. I’d love to take it up again if it fits in my schedule. I really miss it.

    Hi Judy,
Thanks for responding! Our Step-A-Fonics class here at LMC is currently open to the tenants (for space purposes). I know that Joyce has classes on Tuesday evenings at Zion Lutheran Church (Hanna & Creighton) from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. My understanding is the cost is a free-will donation, but don’t quote me on that. I know the cost is very reasonable. -ejf

I eat a piece of fruit about 10-15 before I work out. Then 30 minutes on an ellyptical machine and 30 minutes of weight lifting. Then I’m out. The best time to work is (drumroll…) in the morning before you eat breakfast.

I agree with you Shane, the best time to workout makes sense to be in the morning for a number of reasons…particularly as a kick-start to your day. A few years back, I would get up and attend a water aerobics class at 6:00 a.m., get home in time to wake up my son, get him (and myself) ready for the day and off we went! I smelled chlorine all day in my nostrils, but other than that I had energy to literally burn!

Unfortunately, I don’t have that same plan today - although I’m hoping to re-incorporate some form of meditation and workout again in my mornings to perk up my day!

Speaking of meditation. I just joined a meditation group on Sunday mornings and am loving it. I think we have to add some form of quietness to our lives, as well as exercise. I look forward to seeing if others have added meditation to their lives.

How did you find the meditation group? Is Sunday the only time that it meets? I would imagine that for some of those that don’t regularly attend church services that this could be an option for channeling in the ‘quietness’ and ’stillness’ of our spiritual selves. I would also like to see how many others are involved in some form of meditation.

I’ve know about the group for a while, but I just could not figure out how to get there. I picked up the book “The Secret” and it suggested adding meditation to your life, so I made it a priority to go. I would even be open to leading a meditation group during the week, if some other would be interested. I think adding stillness to our lives is of great benefit.
